Dr. James Adams

Chair of the Neurological Health Foundation

Dr. James Adams is a President’s Professor at Arizona State University, where he directs the Autism and Asperger’s Research Program. He is the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Neurological Health Foundation, and has authored over 150 scientific articles in peer-reviewed publications. He is the President and founder of the Autism Conferences of America and has served on multiple scientific boards, including the Autism Research Institute and the Autism Society of America. Dr. Adams and Shazi serve jointly on the board of the Neurological Health Foundation and share a commitment for children’s health due in part to their shared experience of having a child with autism.

Ken Cook

Co-Founder and President Environmental Working Group (EWG)

Ken is the President and Co-founder of the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment. He is widely recognized as one of the environmental community’s most prominent leaders. Under his leadership over the past 20 years, EWG has pioneered the use of digital technologies to empower American families with easy-to-use, data-driven tools to help reduce their exposure to potentially harmful ingredients in foods, drinking water, cosmetics and other household products. For his fierce commitment to children’s health, Ken is a personal hero of Shazi’s. As a member of the EWG board, Shazi has lobbied with Ken on Capitol Hill among many efforts to change the state of children’s health today.

Dr. Suzanne Goh

Pediatric Neurologist Chief Medical Officer of Cortica

Dr. Goh is a pediatric behavioral neurologist, a neuroscience researcher, and author. She has dedicated her career to researching and developing therapies for neurological conditions that impact childhood brain development. She graduated summa cum laude at Harvard Medical School and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. In addition to her Clinical practice, she went on to serve as a faculty member at Columbia University, with joint appointments in the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Goh is a faculty member of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs, where she instructs physicians from around the globe in best practices for the neurological care of autism and related conditions.

Dr. Stephen Cowan

Developmental Pediatrician

Dr. Cowan is a pediatrician with over 30 years of clinical experience working with children. He has a specialty in Developmental Pediatrics and is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, serving as a member of the section on Developmental Disabilities. He is a clinical instructor at NY Medical College and a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. Dr. Cowan is the author of "Fire Child Water Child", featuring a unique holistic approach to evaluating and treating children struggling with chronic physical, emotional and cognitive disorders. This approach respects the inseparability of mind, body and spirit and promotes a deeper understanding of what it means to be healthy. Dr. Cowan is also the Medical and Education Director for Tournesol Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the emotional, physical and spiritual health of every child. Dr. Cowan has treated Shazi + Joe’s son Zane on an ongoing basis, and has been a resource to the family throughout their journey.
